pre glut
I have much to be thankful for. I have been truly blessed and I live content and know that fortune has smiled (or sometimes smirked) upon me many times. But I have always viewed the holiday known as "Thanksgiving Day" as a curious festival of gluttony fraught with pressures and unnecessary expectations. Be there, do that, bring this, don't bring that, watch what you say or do, but most importantly, do not disappear without reporting your whereabouts. And provide a damn good excuse for conspicuous absence. Some sips of this Absinthe. I'll be dropping off a can of jellied cranberry sauce with a can-opener.
A hot bath, a pack of cigarrettes, a six-pack and I'm good to go (nowhere). One other luxury: a turkey pot pie (one of the really cheap ones) to share with the various household creatures who have no idea what day it is. Thank God.

post gallery post
Great time last night; great artwork, interesting people and old friends. Beer, lights, nails and dog talk. Tall boy cans and tall tales at Deluxe a bit later on in the evening. We retired with the feeling that everything was alright for a change.

Gallery stuff
Tonight, 6 - 10 at the Hoffman LaChance Gallery (3100 Sutton in Maplewood) I'm gonna go hang (-I want to post my whereabouts to any would-be snipers out there). My good friends Christopher Gustave (he did the design work on my upcoming debut CD) and Kevin Belford (he and I like to exchange horrifying sex stories and other tales of accomplishments and failures) will both have work featured in the exhibit and I do believe it is sponsored by Schlafly Beer, so no excuses are warranted. I'll be hiding there, - Fred
Friday
Hello Dana! Next week on Wed, 11/26, Diesel Island will be playing at Iron Barley from 9 - midnight. No cover, all are welcome, spread the word. Also: On Thanksgiving Day we start cooking around 2 pm - BUFFET THANKSGIVING DINNER starts around 5 (that's when the food should be ready and everybody's had a chance to stake out a spot to sit'n'gorge). No charge (but you can bring a side dish to share, if you want to). We call it "Oafs & Waifs' Day" and we do it every year. Some people got no place to go on that particular holiday or maybe they do, but like me, they'd rather be hanging out and drinking beer with friends. TOM HALL will be the celebrity bartender in charge, so don't order nothin' too fancy. The food's free, but yeah, you gotta pay for the beer. I'll be in charge of the open-mic wham-jam thing, so if you have a guitar, banjo, whatever, please bring it, join in and tell everybody you know about it 'cause I haven't been very aggressively promoting this and I'm afraid I'll have to sit around listening only to me.

recovery
A few weeks back, November 1st (3:45pm) to be precise, I was motoring toward work on my "bad" Motofino brand scooter. Flying downhill on Meremac when I blacked out and I went down hard. Just like Billy The Kid. I sustained a fractured nose and some beautiful bruising; had to pay $175 to get the scoot out of the City Tow Yard; and lost my helmet and eyeglasses. Man, that was a great Halloween Party the night before.

twice daily
Coffee is a drug, approved by society and enjoyed by many, including myself. I like side-affects.
